Health Defined- What does it mean to be healthy? Does it mean a lack of symptoms? Disease free? Does it mean
you are physically fit? The definition has been distorted so much so that few understand what it truly means. The
lack of symptoms or disease does not mean a person is healthy. Health is determined by how a person functions. If
you are functioning at 100% then you are less susceptible to an illness or injury. Furthermore, health is determined
by an individual’s ability to adapt to their surroundings and thrive. Our practice focuses on increasing a person’s
ability to adapt by creating a balanced nervous system.

Chiropractic defined- The major premise of chiropractic, is that your body has the inborn or innate ability to heal,
few could argue that. Throughout life certain outside forces can decrease your body’s ability to heal by creating
abnormal neurologic patterns. Chiropractors chose to study these effects on the nervous system because that
system controls and coordinates all the other tissues and processes of the body. A poorly functioning nervous
system means poorly coordinated physiology which will lead to a decreased ability to adapt that leaves you more
susceptible to illness and injury. At our office we measure your neurology and physiological variables so we have an
absolute picture of how you are functioning. We apply our techniques to improve upon the deficiencies and
increase your adaptability thus helping you to become a healthy person.

Nervous System- The nervous system is divided into the central and peripheral systems. The central nervous
system is made up of the brain and spinal cord while the peripheral system is made up of the somatic and
autonomic nervous system. The autonomic system is further divided into the sympathetic and parasympathetic
    systems.
The Central Nervous system functions to process information and coordinate the actions of the body.  Proper
function of this system is paramount for a person to become healthy.
The Peripheral Nervous System functions to relay signals from the environment to the brain and from the brain to
the end organ.  The Somatic System carries sensory and motor information from muscles, ligaments, tendons, and
bone to the central system. The Autonomic System functions to change the physiology of the body according to the
surrounding environment. The sympathetic portion increases energy expenditure, while the parasympathetic lowers
    energy expenditure.
At are office we measure all aspects of the nervous system using the latest technology in chiropractic to provide
neurologically based chiropractic to our patients.
